Juveniles and the Courts
December 6, 2001

In December of 2001, Modern Courts' Capital District Chapter sponsored a forum entitled, "Juveniles and the Courts; Achieving Justice in Youth Court, Family Courts and Criminal Courts." The panelists covered a wide range of responses to juvenile crimes, from the least serious offenses which may get addressed in youth courts, the PINS and Juvenile Delinquents whose cases come to family court for disposition, to the most serious perpetrators of crime who may have to face an adult criminal court. The forum attracted a very diverse audience whose lively participation in the question and answer portion greatly benefited the program. The Capital District Chapter is planning a program on the Integrated Domestic Violence Courts in the spring of 2002 (date to be announced). This region includes one of the pilot sites of the JDV Courts in Rensselaer County.
